Re: What did you do with your A Series today? Finally solved the clunking suspension.
Having diagnosed the issue as a worn tie rod end, I replaced that.
Diagnosis was wrong.
Then realised the entire suspension can on one side was loose, tightened it up - luckily a friend with better technical knowledge pointed out that the washer that folds over to prevent the big nut coming undone hadn't been folded over.
So hammered that, and the suspension is solid as a rock and the van much much quieter to drive!

Sprayed a good chunk of a can of wd-40 all over the suspension nuts an bolts, hoping a similar treatment every day for a week will free things up enough for an over-xmas suspension overhaul to sort out the almighty bangs, judders and endless pitching and rolling caused by passing over even the tiniest of grains of dust on the road...

Re: What did you do with your A Series today? Covering it all in mud, salt & pig shit for the winter and then maybe in the spring will all be gone?!  Erm... that's the holes not the whole Ami, I hope. Tho no doubt it'll be me making the whole holes gone in the spring... My mig is a pig, points made recently on here about buying a decent one noted, but I have an inverter stick welder and some 1.5mm rods which welded up the floor on the 87 Special last year so that might work...

DaveB wrote: Discovered that the carb was half full of water proper fuel cap or one of those plastic garage forecourt replacements? suspect also the small piece of fuel pipe on top of the tank and the run down by the front wheel under the fuel pump - any cracking in these areas means the pump will draw in water when its wet and leak(smell) slightly when stopped also check the piece of rubber that joins tank to filler pipe is on , tight and the metal liguarex/jubilee clips are tight and not corroded and burst.
