RE: Sequential Ignition

Is it enough information for Megasquirt to use a single toothed wheel at the cam with a VR sensor to run full sequential fuel and spark? Or do I need to use a 36-1 trigger wheel pattern?
I currently have a MS1 unit and will upgrade to the MS3 to control ignition timing.

Cheers,

Harley

Did some stuff with Megasquirt.
36-1 hole drilled in a flywheel works perfect, but no sequential. Advantage (to crankshaft), no jitter do to the play between crank and camshaft and a skewed?? camshaft.

1 hole in flywheel (not bad running but bad cranking/starting) sensor at 10 degrees tdc.....

so 1 tooth at camshaft won't work, it takes to to much time till the next pulse so ignition can be way off then.

The best way for me would be a 4-1 better 8-1 better 24-1 best 36-1 toothed wheel 60-1
is overdone (my opinion) at crankshaft (VR sensor) and 1 tooth at camshaft (hallsensor)

Because at a 2cv you have 1 spark event every revelution, you can do with 1 tooth cq hole
at about 45 degrees crankshaft between sensor event and spark is less then 10 degrees so this is very acurate (again for a 2cv). For engine's with more cilinders
it will be worse again it would take to long timing can be way off. You can eleminate this by making a prediction when the next spark has to come (I'm working on this one)
so then it will be possible to make 3/4/6/8 cilinders decent running

Thanks lpgo, that is much clearer for me now,

Taken from Microsquirt DualSpark...

Microsquirtis another, maybe the best, option for 2cv. based on the Megasquirt II extra code, in a water proof case the size of a credit card

A little confused by this statement, but I get the basic idea, i think, basically :?

thank you!

Post Re: Supercharger
Hi legends,

I think I have fallen for the Microsquirt, instead of upgrading the daughter card to the MS 3, because it is more rugged, smaller, can do everything I need...

My set up is supercharged, 652cc, 2cylinder engine, multi point injection with twin spark plugs (2 in each cylinder)

I need to know how to run 2 coil packs (wasted spark type setup), one for each cylinder.
I know Microsquirt can do this but I read that the new V3 doesn't allow direct coil control;
"Logic level ignition outputs only - coil drivers have been removed." Taken from DIYautoTune andMicrosquirt website

So, what coils should I run for my setup and how to drive them with Microsquirt?
I will use the 36-1 wheel at the crank and single tooth at the cam like pic above...

Cheers!

Here is a bench-test video of a 2cv running an amr300, SU carby and sparking with a 123 ignition:

It all fits in nice and neat. I guess they will run a modified/external oil cooler.

Yes, it is Aisin AMR300, the same as I have, they come up for sale regularly on Australian Ebay, around $AUD350. I can purchase and post one to you if you like Pete!
