Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
I'm very interested in your rear arms Pete. (i'm running rear wheel drive) Do you still have kingpins in there? if so have you rotated the kingpin piece in the end of the arm? How is the steering disabled? could you show a close up of the hub area?
My steering is diabled by welding the track rods to the arms, it works but is very inelegant, i also want to lengthen the wheelbase slightly and yours looks like an elegant solution. nice work there. Bob.

bob, here's one of the simplest (and most effective) arrangements I've found for a RWD setup using 2CV components... ken 2CV buggy, rear arm detail by slcchassis, on Flickr

Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
Thanks Ken, I like that! very neat. Thanks for the close ups Pete. they show just what i wanted to see. It looks like it's been turned so the kingpin angle goes the other way compared to front arms, this is what i wanted to do so cheers for that. Sadly i'm about as far from you as i can get or i'd love to come for a look. This is my 2cv powered ride.... I had considered using rear arms with the hubs cut off and front hub carriers welded on. this would give me the extra wheel base i need to keep the front end down when taking pillion. don't want to hijack your thread with 3x2 stuff but the back ends are related.

I'm drooling.....
Well I'am still working on my own ignition. Drove my car around a bit today with it, but it is hardly drivable, but hey slowly making progress.
did you create the pieces on the lathe/mill yourself, looking very nice....

Hi lpgo, Are you repaired after the bike accident. Interested in the ignition, is it flywheel triggered? Had the drawings/parts made...

Placed engine and main gearbox on chassis. Engine has been in the back of the garage for the past 6 years. Needs another Carb and timing/distributer setting up!!! Attachment:
