 Breather Overhall
Having seen Russel's recent good work, It spurned me on to fix my breather. I have made "clamp" to allow the breather parts to be re-connected. Research on-going for valve material, use rubber in the short term as you will be able to dis-assemble your breather. If there is any demand I can supply these ... Bottom has gap to fit over dip stick connection Top part in two halves 12 off 4mm bolts and nylocs. Cost including p&p about £20.00

 Re: Breather Overhall
Re-furbished the internals of the breather, will now out-last me and also the car. Tested with my new manometer and get 4.5cmm of vacuum at a fast tick-over and 0cm at high-revs

 Re: Breather Overhall
That's excellent stuff, Pete. What material did you end up using for the rubber diaphragms?

 Re: Breather Overhall
Shim steel, very, very fiddly to cut and make flat...but its works. Improved vacuum with better starting and an "stable" tick-over. Will also check the mpg as i believe that also will be improved. May be make-up some "replacement part" if there is an interest.

 Re: Breather Overhall
Oooooh, shim steel? That sounds goooooood. Working a bit like the 'reed' valves on 2-strokes engines?

 Re: Breather Overhall
@DA Copied the idea from ECAS CPD valve.
@JW Vacuum of 4.5cm is good I think......feedback here please. I dont have a new breather to compare, if you have one to lend I'd be happy to do some tests.

Did you measure it before you did anything to it? I hate to say this, but I'm afraid it's not working optimal, as the vacuum should never fall to zero if stuff is working. This is what the Citroën manual says: Quote: The difference in levels should be: - With engine idling: Minimum 5cm. The vacuum should never fall to zero, no matter the engine speed. Otherwise the breather must be replaced. To compare, I think my new one had 7-8cm difference.(maybe I remember wrong)
