Also, when i first got the book i thought there was some ghostly, creepy hand that's wrapped around the B - post! I thought the same about the wing, but i think it's just the angle the pictures taken at. I guess the pic you posted was when it was being cut, or soon afterwards as the back (front?) doors are missing and there's no luggage. I'd Love to get hold of the guys and see if they have more photos or info, I bet they tell a good yarn. And yes, that's a pretty smart 'tache. I think the chassis broke around the front axle area, so they fitted the front axle further back along the chassis and bolted the engine in where the front axle used to be. The filleted 2cv also seems to be RHD. The book says they were from Grenoble in 1972, therefore French cars - what on earth could be the story there? Why and how would they have converted the car to RHD?

Or maybe somebody's cocked up and scanned the negative/slide backwards...?

Now you mention it, it's such a plausible and obvious reason that I should really have thought of that. So, let's recap: The chassis broke, and despite having quite a lot on thier plate with that, they cut all the bodywork off, remounted the engine, found a scrap Slough car to rob the rack from, a scrap Sahara to rob the fan from (why they didn't take it from the Slough or the front engine of the sahara I can only surmise) then set about cutting and shutting the manifold. Or, maybe, the negative's backwards...
