He did cut a hole in his Opel's roof and yes the glass hatch fell into the car.... He was very lucky they still had a bit larger size sunroof on sale... I knew you would propose this! But i won't cut in my van anywhere.

 Re: My Red Special
Away in Devon again, but on the way down (awful traffic, a 6hr journey..) a horror noise developed.
I have so much stuff in my boot in case of car need, but suspecting a dry drive shaft I've ha dto go and buy a grease gun and some grease. Maybe that's done it, we'll find out tomorrow.
But I grease them all the time!
Oh well, we'll see on the way home.

 Re: My Red Special
Thanks Geert.
Grease was all it needed. In all my years of 2cv I've never heard that noise before. These aftermarket drive shafts have never seemed great. From new they made clunking noises already. I should have stuck to genuine used ones but these were from Ecas. The seals have lasted very well though.
Anyway the Mighty Deuche stormed is way home with its usual aplomb. It's a 3.5hr journey normally, the 6hr one on the way down was because of traffic.
