Hit a badger and broke the chassis.

Pootled around the Peak District on various single track gated roads this morning, then went to the pub and over a few pints read Simon Days book A Tale of Two CVS.

So, half past four this morning I'm seeing how fast the 2cv would go down the A24, when this stripy tuberculosis ferry jumped out in front of me, the tacho was reading 6800-7000 so I was going at a fair speed. When I hit the furry bellend it felt like I'd hit a block of cement. The passenger door burst open then slammed itself again, the car I'd just flown past undertook me so it slowed me down a fair bit. The exhaust was suddenly very noisy and the steering wheel had moved round 90deg. On top of that I've found there's no handbrake and the clutch cable is pretty badly damaged. The crossmember that the handbrake is mounted on is made from 3mm sheet folded into a channel, both webs of the channel are torn off the longerons and its smashed flat, it's also hit the bottom of the gearbox which is now leaking, and I assume is now Donald ducked. It is a frome chassis which are shite anyway, but now not only are they a dreadfully designed they're weak and feeble when faced with a minor impact such as hitting a small animal at 75mph. Lucky it weren't a cow or a buffalo or something really. Thankfully people have been very sympathetic, my girlfriend for example, upon hearing this replied to my text with 'OMG is the badger ok?'

Stripy little monochrome twat.

I've not forgotten that, the steel arrived yesterday so Monday morning I'll start building it.
