An LNA box needs _something_ doing to it... For two reasons. LNAs have outboard front brakes, and the gearing's set up for 13" wheels.

So unless you do something to an LNA box, you'll be revving the nadgers off at 50mph, but that's OK, because you won't be able to stop...

As for the front tyres - the track's the same, the tyre-meets-metal problem is because the tyre tops stick out of the arches on full lock normally. If you move 'em in, won't you be touching inner wing metal on lock t'other way?

Post Re: Shortening Track rods
Hi boggy,

I think there is some confusion on both sides.
I have an LNA box fitted and I also have a wheel arch rubbing issue when I lower it.
The lna box NEEDS spacers otherwise the drive shafts will seperate as they don't have enough length.
The Lna gear ratio is amazing for a tuned 2cv or visa engine, overtaking @ 110km/h in 3rd now possible.
Only shortening the track rods will simply leave you with toe out... you need to seperate the hub mount from the arm and cut 10mm or so off the end, then its best to rotate the hub mount slightly so the kingpin sits vertical when lowered, this removes the heavy return on steering.
As you woukd know, the LNA has casting mounts for out board gs brakes, they just need a thread cut in them.
I'm on an phone so no sexy links or pics of mine or others mods sorry.
Check the Snail forum it's all there!

Adrian,
not a good day at the office? ;)

On LNA g'boxes and brakes.

Re. gearing.
Won't the engine be turning at lower rpm, since the LNA's overall ratios have to be higher, to cope with those pram wheels?

Can't help with the metal bashing bit, as I'm off to the pub...

Ayjay... naughty ;-)
Boggy are you going to channel it? I don't think you will have any or as much of a clearance issue if it's not channelled, I guess it should be mentioned that the clearance issues I have are unrelated to the LNA box and/or adaptors, it's from the channeling, I will roll the lip as a work around.

I saw your post on Snail, your already a ahead of me!

As has been said already the LNA box is nothing like visa box in relation to brake mounting, LNA has mountings for GS calipers and the early ones are already threaded. Suspension arms are now cut, shortened and turned. Harley yes but cant go too low as need clearance to slip that supercharger under the bonnet. As we both know Tuned Visa engine with LNA box on 15" wheels wont be "revving the nadgers off it"
Having problems with cooling at moment as running a double pulley off the crank there is now nowhere to fit fan but will come up with something!!!
I think you are well ahead as I have most mechanical work done but body is a real dog. Also waitin for lpgo to perfect his 1-2-spark.
Will post on Snail when things start to come together
Cheers
Boggy

I am about to have a flywheel machined with the supercharger drive pulley mounted on the back of it, then have my brother tig up a plenum/intake manifold to mount it to, will run a tensioner pulley. This will mean the supercharger will be mounted further back so I think the throttle body will be able to sit right on top of it :-)
I can send you the cad file once i'm done with it if you would like to have one made yourself!

Here is the draft, still needs lots of tweaks, I will have a trigger pattern drilled into it in case I go for megasquirt sequential ignition later on.
Here's the plans for my gearbox mount if that helps:

Will use 2cv ring gear and have them fit it. :)
