Guess you hadn't spotted it, but this 3 part standard set of braclets listed on Roy's site is stainless, at £19.75...

While I'm about it I might as well see about getting the other half-brackets done too. (Unless anyone else is already doing them in stainless??????).

Should add, that front mufflers not hanging and secured on the gear box is bad news too.

Thanks Ken. I hadn't seen that. I'll have a word with Roy before getting too stuck into this project. Perhaps I'll just do the lower rear bracket for short pipes on vans and cars then.

I thought it was the upper rear bracket which had the 'side sway limiters'? ;)

Van & Mehari rear exhaust hanger by slcchassis, on Flickr

Btw, do you know if that comment is correct about the hangers being different on vans and Meharis?
I keep forgetting to check on those occasions when there's a gathering of the A series... :roll:

<checks Mehari fiche>
The Mehari part number for the dangler is AZU182-123 (with the other half being AZU182-122) - so they were first used on van, so - yep - they're almost certainly the same, but I don't have a van fiche.

If they were Mehari specific bits, they'd have AY part numbers.

Oddly, the fiche shows the tailpipe as being long...

Cheers, m'dear... :)
Wonder if I can be bothered to pass this enlightenment on to the mysterious 'chevrons3', who is on Flickr but has not yet uploaded any of their own photographs? :?

Yes, your right. I just had lower in my head because it extends down lower than the other half-bracket!

I must have been wrong about this as well then. What's confused me is that I have two original sets of these brackets. One is definitely from an AK and is longer because the mounting holes are further apart. I don't know where I got the other (shorter) one from, but I assumed it must have come from some Mehari spares that I've accumulated. I suppose it must be an AZU bracket: are the mounting holes closer together on the AZU than they are on the AK? Well, whether it comes from a Mehari or an AZU, that's the one that fits a 2CV car. The AK one doesn't.

Now I'm more confused!: I didn't know there was a chevrons3. If there is, what's he/she got to do with it? Or do you mean me? I'm chevrons2. I don't have a flicker account and I didn't think I was particularly mysterious!

Anybody got a copy of the no596 AZU/AKS parts fiche that's on the Tony Jackson website? The downloads are dead in the water, still...

Had a look in my AK 350 parts book and my van book covering AZU/AK. The horse shoe bracket is not shown anywhere. Another bracket is shown (square footing with 4 holes) supporting the rear O rubber mount.
