Post Checking bearing crush?
How important is it to check the bearing crush, using a Plastigage, during assembly?
Or can I just torque the case up to specifications...
It's a Visa motor with new camshaft and crank bearing shells.

Cheers much!

Not possible on closed bearings. Before torquing the full amount, the crank MUST turn by hand without any obstruction. Do the 4 main bolts or nuts to full torque and feel again. Measure for vertical play front and rear + side play front and rear. Put the fan hub on and pull/push to feel the free movement or measure before clamping the engine together. You may find anything from 0,35 mm and upwards. 0,50 is still acceptable beyond that would be too much (matching your drive style  )

NEW, where and how much. I have several cranks in good working order but the front cage is fucked. Can't find parts of anybody interested in replacing the bearing?
