Helicoil, should be straight forward, drill, tap, insert, done! 8-)

ECAS has them.

£52.95 plus carriage for a set of 10. (Could do your repair and then hawk the rest on here for, say, £40?)

Never done it myself, so I can't offer any advice based on experience. However, there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help. eg

Doesn't look too onerous.

Hope this helps!

Looks straight forward but I think I would prefer to remove the head - do not want any debris to remain in there.....

Be aware.
The insert thread (tap) is 16 x 1.50 mm
The heli coil thread (tap) is 16 x 1.25 mm but internal are the same 14 x 1.25 mm.

This guy did all the wrong things. No grease, hit the edge of one valve, hit the piston and left all metal chips inside.

Complete fuck up
