Bought a shell, everything in bits, so its a guess where some bits go.
Fitted the roof, and the crossmember where the boot would fit, I can't see how it locates either sides
Inside the car?
There are brackets either side with a square hole in, but if I locate the lugs on the crossmember, the roof won't close(too tight)
I don't have a boot lid to check if the gap is correct
What an I missing?

paul there were often 2 tags on the cross member that bolt to the hammock lugs sitting inside the square brackets but without going out to the cold cant remember which ( think its the top one)

there is or was a tab on the window surround which should fit in the bracket in the welded on cross member - or the top of the window should be there abouts.

you may have bolted the front opening frame too far forward there is a fair range of fore aft movement

If the roof is off the car and it is laying around for a while it will shrink a bit.. (about an inch).

Put it on the car and try to get a little tension on it in about 2 day it should fit again.....

Could anyone possibly take a photo for me as i dont know what the hammock lugs are?
the shell has nothing on, and i have buckets and buckets of nuts bolts bits and bobs. Pure guess work as to where some of the brackets go!
I took a look at the Ecas 2cv spares web page Part Number: 4424A, the cross member for the boot. My mounting brackets are simply a 5mm slot, not with the horse shoe shape on the ends?
I have the front opening part of the roof as fully back as possible (least tension) but if i put a bolt through the boot cross member into the square locating hole on the body , either side, the tension when the roof is closed physically bends these two brackets on the cross member, and the two screws that should screw through the roof into the body (either side above the rear window, seem to be a good 25mm short of the already drilled holes on the body? Same goes for the connections half way along the roof, just 25mm or so short of locating.
If i had a boot, i could hook it on and see instantly it was or wasn't in the correct position.
the only brackets i have on the car at the rear are square with a square hole in the middle, the cross member has brackets that don,t touch these, they seem too short.
If i could see a photo of the cross member in place, it would really help!
I dont know of any 2CV cars local to me, and the Haynes book is not very detailed.

Just a thought - could someone measure the distance of the opening for the roof or the boot measurement to help. Sadly cannot do as only Dyane. This will guide him hopefully..

thanks very much for the photo, i can see how it works now, ive got 4 of those brackets in a box, didnt have a clue what they were for!
However, i think the cross member for the boot i have has been modified as it has only a small 90 degree bracket, and sits about 20mm away from the hooked bracket shown in your picture?
Perhaps i need a new one?

hi paul the cross member/hinge in the pic is quite new the other one rusted through you may be able to find a boot lid on ebay if yours is missing
the 2 brackets are there to support a fabric parcel support tube btw
