what age tom? if the cars portugese i'll probs have the same problem as i got with the D*lly door... its almost like a pattern part of the french and doesnt fit well atall! and them little white plastic things that hold the elastic strip down the side are abit annoying too! just glad theyre not rivets!

thanks for the kind offerings from everyone :) its nice to know that there are still good people in the world :)

Just a little thought about the poor fitting door Joe, try opening it and lifting it a tiny bit and then shutting it.

I've had to put little 'wedges' at the bottom of my back doors as the 'hinges' are rotten at the bottom allowing the doors to drop too far making it appear that the door's too wide for the aperture. :ugeek:

Yeah, I've had that where the bottom of the door hinge appears to be worn. If the door is stiff to shut the last bit of the way there's usueally something trapped in it.

I've certainly never had any problems with interchangeability of parts (of any description) between Portuguese and French cars.

I certainly have had to adjust rear doors to fit - usually with a hammer on the hinge, and then a bit of adjustment on the striker plate. Be careful with the hammer though!

well i ended up have to prise it shut with a bar against the c-pillar.... yes the bottom of the hinge has gone rusty, but that wasnt the problem.. nomatter where the door is, it just looks too wide... i ended up getting it to shut, but it wouldnt latch properly! hence the prising it shut to make it latch! just going to leave it out of bounds...

spoke to our man this mornin "uncle john" as hes called... hes spoke to his cousin, and hes going to ring me back today with a definate date when we're going down to ramsgate to pick up this charleston!

something positive anyway!
