 Re: Solexes
Before I sign up, I need a Solex Which Solex is the best to get for a beginner solex owner. There are plenty on offer in my local area but I am not sure of the right price to pay. Most are around the 200 to 300 euro mark for a decent looking bike. I am a bike mechanic so no problem with the restore other than the motor of course but should be easier than the 2CV...right! Any pointers would be great. cheers Ian

Tripyrenees wrote: Which Solex is the best to get for a beginner solex owner. They're all fairly much of a muchness. 3800s are most common. 2200s are better looking, a bit less power than the 3800, and have rim brakes both ends, rather than the 3800s rear drum. The rim brakes are laughably crap... 3300s are a half-way house, a 3800 with the 2200 motor. Older than that, you're into specialist territory, though.
