 Re: Rivets I've seen plenty smashed up and crashed a couple myself, watch some 2cv cross videos on YouTube, they can take a proper beating. Maybe somebody can find and post the pictures of Charlotte Richs bamboo? Hit in the B post/drivers door by a car coming the other way, spun, rolled twice and still looked like a 2cv afterwards, and she pretty much walked away. I had mine rear ended when it was stationary and the impact snapped the drivers seat in half, moved the engine back far enough to smash the gearbox casing and I still drove it home and fixed it. Harry Brookes had a similar accident but at much higher speed and got away without serious injury. It doesn't matter if the metal is thin, it's how it's formed and joined together that counts. Which is what the threads about. Go and crash one, youll probably be fine.

Re: Rivets So who complained? I thought the pictures were worth seeing. Anyone who thinks riveting structural panels together is a good idea needs all the naming and shaming they can get.

Re: Rivets I agree Rivets if done properly and decent quality rivets are v strong, not sure id use them structually I notice fieldhouse hasnt commented

Re: Rivets Been working all morning removing millions of riverts. The young man arrived to help but we decided to replace both door sills as they are completely buggered. I now have permission to upload photos without using any informations pointing his way. Attachment:

Re: Rivets How will you weld the hole - On a normal weld would you just drill a hole on one side then fill the hole with weld. With the hole going all the way through will this be a nightmare... I have got to learn somewhere

Re: Rivets Lots of creative thinking is needed to retify this job. I going to weld on the joining edges and ignore the holes unless I can close the holes. However the young gent is going to seal all left holes with his wonder joint sealer. I'm having a real hard time welding with all the sealer between the panels. Can't remove it but Viking always win
