Aye, that stuff's never been renowned for promoting clear thinking... ;)

So to sum up, it will probably blind me and melt my car. My garden gates are wooden too. So to now buy it would not be a stella idea. I`ll have to give this some more thought.

i bought a second hand mig from my brother in law for £40-00, ive yet to use it but my bro welded a new foot panel into my car and a new rear seatbelt panel with his mig no prob
his has an old pub gas co2 bottle
its still difficult to get a decent run though plus the metal has to be totally clean

Thanks Dave I did see that advert, I did not want to spend £150 on something I might well be crap at. £29 = low outlay = low risk, but by the sound of it craps results too.

Ken a can of 'The Old Wife Beater' not had that in a while :) Their cider is not bad though.

Ajay, a cheap welder with practical lessons from an expert that is a good situation.

you might as well just spend the £29 on lidls own strong lager as you will not be able to weld any part of a 2cv body with a buzz box and a box of cheap electrodes

look on fleabay you can sometimes buy a SIP mig for "spares or repair" its usually the liner or a cheap on board relay that is needed to get it going.

Mine came with a spot welding attachment which I've never tried, must have a play with that.

I got one of those from Eastwood (not Roy) for Russ to have a go with when he was putting the floors in our AK a few years back - he gave it a try, and fairly quickly decided it was a waste of time and effort. Russ - you took it with you, didn't you? Did you ever get anywhere with it?
