pbp,
don't they provide the support points for the front end of the bonnet?
I know when I've been working with cars which have no front bumper, I've fitted a couple of rubber buffers ( aka walking stick tips ;) ) onto those brackets, otherwise the bonnet ends up almost sitting on the light bar.
If you haven't got the little rubber buffers fitted to the front outer edges of the bonnet, there can be contact with the wings as well, which wouldn't do your new paintwork much good.

( Maybe check on pic #3 above?)

Bumper buffers/stops are on top of the bumper, but exactly above these support things giving extra strenght to it all, but I think you can cut them off, it will just be fine..... maybee strengthen the bumper a bit insted...

ill chuck in my tuppence...
they are supports for the valance on the bumper and indeed they support the "jelly tot" rubber

without them the bonnet will wobble about scuffing the paint, catching the lamp bar and the catch wont work as well as it should

Okey doke.. I'll get my bumper first then see if it'll be needed. I have all the rubber buffers safely tucked away.. somewhere. The bonnet is resting on the wings at present, so something will be needed for sure. Cheers all..

The colour looks different in every photo, this one taken on my phone is accurate to real life..

I also got both front wings and the underside of the bonnet painted.

Might get a bit more done before new years, but I'm very ill with the flu at the moment so that may not happen.

Happy Christmas to everyone!!
