Post Christmas miles
I have 3 decent length trips this Christmas, a good chance to 'shake down' the Acad prior to next summer's run to Spain.

This weekend was the first, a 500 mile run to the Wirral and back.

So with new tyres, oil, plugs and electronic sparks / coil to ensure reliability, it was time to gird one's loins (or at least don thermal undies); we headed off into torrential rain.

Well we made the trip without incident, with just 2 minor hiccups to report, the windscreen washer squirty bulb decided not to work anymore and the speedo cable has given up.

TBH the trip would have been no faster in a Ferrari, most of the motorways having 50mph limits set and even 40 for some parts. The rain caught a few drivers on the hop, I passed 8 cars en-route that would not be making their destination. One was on it's side, 2 were halfway up an embankment and the remainder stationary on the hard shoulder with their occupants huddled up in the rain on the far side of the armco barrier.

Did someone change the rules? do you now have to exit a broken down vehicle?

Its advisery to exit the car as people seem to crash into them !

And if you think the impact speed will be high it wont just be a broken car!

Tired HGV driver + stationary vehicle = a mess you're better being clear of.

Npt just hgv drivers...

Half an hour ago a women drove into me a totaled the tow bar on the 106 :(

I was at a roundabout and was waiting for a gap, she apparently saw a gap and floored it. But i was still there! I hadent begun to go as i could never pull away quick enough in the 106. I was sitting there since she came into the queue behind me with my foot on the brake.
Its idiots like that who hit stationary cars at the side of a road! Why do people look right while going forward?

The last person you want to be anywhere near at roundabouts is my dear old 68 year old mum.

If she thinks she has waited long enough then she's going no matter what is coming. The number of times her rear view mirror has been completely full of Scania bouncing up and down on air brakes doesn't bear thinking about.

If she hands you her glasses with the comment "can't see a thing through those - give them a wipe for me"; then you had better be quick 'cos she can't see further than the bonnet.

She drives a Celica GT, had to get rid of the Supra after breaking the living room window by spinning the wheels on the drive and spitting out stones.

She sounds like my ex mother in law - she used to work in a large super market and there was only one other car in the huge carpark and she drove straight into it - excuse- that is where I always park and I did not see it........ Had phone car from her one day to come and help get the car down???? Confused I arrived to see her little Mini parked up the side of the house with only its front wheels and front skirt on the ground the rest was going up the drain pipe - she hit the gas instead of brake whilst reversing.... :?
