you have to be very carefull with language things like rectifiers and regulators are really different things, as are DC producing Dynamos and AC producing alternators- both generators, and different countries may have differing slang terms for the things.

I don't know if it's tru but I am told that when you have a Paris rhone dynamo you must use a Paris rhone regulator and with Duccelier dynamo a Duccelier regulator???? Otherwise it wont work!!!

I'll be buggered. Fitted new regulator Wehrle (CTA Holland) fitted on some TA + fitted another motorbike regulator only to discover that I had no charge at all. Not even when making a brigde between D+ and DF+. Found an old Paris Rhone regulator, fitted it and bingo 7.3 volt. Maybe your statement is correct that only matching parts are working. That means big problems ahead since no new Paris Rhone regulators are available. Bloody hell what to do?

for instance a dynamo can be repaired

It is not here yet. Very surprised that Han shipped the goodies after I pissed him off

Meanwhile I fitted a Ducellier dynamo and a Paris Rhone regulator. Now it is working fine. Thanks for your assistance. No other 6 volt brand regulator is working with the dynamo. Lesson learned, mixed systems won't work.
I'm still looking to stock up on 6 volt dynamo and regulators. I have many Ami and 2cv's coming in with problems. Next job is to find someone able to fix 2cv dynamo's without handing over the 2cv but to ship the complete dynamo for overhauling. Had a quote from a Dutch company asking 240 euros, forget it :o

Do not mix Ducillier and Paris rhone parts/regulators. They seem to work together until they burn out. As an emergency, ducillier brushes will be a wobbly fit in a Paris Rhone, but prone to excessive wear/burnout. PRs definitely don't fit Ducillier
