Norman once there was a time every 2cv was startet with a pull starter, nowadays we are starting by a switch or the key but in ancient times a startermotor had no solenoid......
You pulled a lever, the starter motor engaged and a big switch made contact and the startermotor did its job.......

Now the big switch is broken and he wants a replacement........ so no rope as you think

the contacts tend to burn away over time, as the current is enormous upon start especially on a 6volt unit(twice the current of a 12volt)
if theres enough copper left on the contacts a fine file might be able to clean and reface them/remove the carbon

But how do you take the unit apart to get to the contacts.
I have had to cut down the input stud to make enough clearance to get this out and file in down but the switch part, the bit that is operated by the lever just does seem to undo and there's not enough clearance to remove it from the housing its in.

I may have to disassemble mine in the next few days - what was the verdict on how this is done? I'm hoping to clean up the bushes(?) for one, but I also need to ensure that the lever returns when I let go of the pull knob - yesterday it stuck on (though that could have been the cable fouling, as I had been messing with it)
