Post French style number plates
Good evening all,

Any ideas where I may be able to get some French letter style number plates made up? Ideally but not essentially black and white ones as I have a "historic vehicle"

Thanks in advance

This is one that offers show plates and/or your design, the other option is to get them made up in France and brought/sent over,if you know someone there.

I can have them made in my local town if you wish and sent them over to you. They are around 15 euros (if my old brain is correct) each.

Strictly speaking, non conforming plates, whether spacing, font or colour, should be failed on an MOT test regardless of the constant risk of being pulled over by a pedantic plod - its surely not worth the risk or the inconvenience just to look "cool"?

You are quite correct, funny reg plates were one of my bones of contention as a 'pedantic plod'. However I suspect that the majority of police officers aren't interested or have no idea of the legal requirements.I have noticed even some officers private vehicles don't comply, but that's another story :o It's a matter for the individual, whilst I spend approx half the year in France and half in UK.I had thought about the French plates but then decided what's the point?

I was once told by an Officer of the Law, many years ago, that 'private plates' of any sort were actually quite liked because the great unwashed public tended to notice/remember them more easily than 'normal' ones...

Not just an MOT fail, as during a recent visit to the local MOT testing station, there was a car in the servicing area to have replacement number plates fitted.
The owner had been fined £60? as her vanity plates did not impress the local constabulary.

Pressed number plates may also cause problems, depending on the original date of registration of the car.

All to do with whether or not ANPR equipment can read the plate, which seems fair enough to me.
