GOM 922N? I *think* that's Rob Sansome's. I'm sure he'll confirm or deny!

Yes GOM 922N is my car , in my family since bought by my Mum in '76! There were a few GOMs around back then , sold from California Garage in Birmingham. I remember GOM 924N was Rouge de Rio. Wonder if any have survived?

Bizarrely, I know this road! It's Bolton Road, Small Heath, close to the Birmingham City stadium. The spire is on the Camp Hill Circus roundabout as you come out of Digbeth. This is the same view nowadays:

Coincidentally, I looked at an N-reg GOM (I remember the strange number plate) at a garage in Oldbury in 82 with a view to buying it. It was exactly the same colour as the one in the pic above, with brown plastic seats. However, it was a knacker, so I declined and bought a T-reg Club instead. Cost me £1100, with 12 months tax and MOT! How-and-why the feck I remember these crap facts is anyone's guess.

Class 31 double-header :ugeek:
That's a cracking photo, especially for its age! Possibly working an enthusiasts' charter or a relief Birmingham - Norwich service &running around the loop because there's not enough space to wait at New Street. Or, it could just be an ailing loco having a bit of help.
Years ago, we had (single) 31s on the Leicester- Brum service but they were replaced by DMUs
Nice update of Bolton Road; shame about the big fence now and the removal of the old lamp-posts.

Glad it wasn't just me who thought about the 31's first...
