Post I hate winter
Constant damp in the floors, inefficient heating, never doing a journey in daylight and seeing my once-shiny car looking filthy and distinctly ropey when I happen to glimpse it in daylight, as I have to drive it down a muddy farm track every day. Combined with the cold and damp workshop being a wholly uninviting place to perform regular maintenance on the car means all the things I didn't fix in the summer sure aren't going to get fixed now either.

How do the rest of you keep on feeling the flat twin love through the miserable gloomy winter?

My Flat twin love is based on being to damn stuborn to walk anywhere unless its abosolutely essential.
I did however get caught out this morning, Short journeys rain and no daylight meant I got the inevitable Whurrr r r r r r r r r... Click treatment this morning.
5 mins locating my starting handle and another 5 mins on said handle.
for a 10 Minute journey, no way was I walking to work though.
So what have I learnt today? Nothing as i could not be arsed to take the battery off and charge it up tonight, so chances are it will be the same pantomime tomorrow.

This will be my second winter in a 2cv,and to be honest,I have found it ok.Yes,I have a nice thick underlay under the plush fitted carpet, and a thermal liner on the roof(inside of course),a heated rear window, and the heater seems to work ok.The bulkhead is well insulated and carpeted. No water leaks, except a small one into the boot, and not much wind noise either.
So yes,its a nice place to be,all warm and snug.
Arent all 2cv's like this?
And a good dab radio to listen to Gold .

Post Re: I hate winter
Now I'm retired and don't have to commute in winter is one bonus, but as I can't get the car in my garage anyway then anything that is urgent will get done weather permitting. But my days of sitting in the freezing cold and wet, working on bikes or cars are long gone, my old bones just can't hack any more. The spirit may still be willing but the body is weak :-).But I still love my 2CV and will continue to use her through the winter,as long as the roads are not bad.Mind she's in UK whilst I've been in France.

On the battery front whilst away she's got a solar charger on and during the winter I do boost charge over night on a trickle charger.. :P

Driving in snow is fun.

Once we did a 4-mens bobsled start with my 2cv.........

driving of a parkinglot me and 3 friends, the car was stuck in the snow.

I pulled the choke engaged 1 gear, let the wheels spin; we all got out, pushed the car and when the car was taking up speed we jumped into the car....

All other people on the parkinglot where flabergasted.........

Here my all time favorit......

It has started to rain in on my legs again, with water sloshing from one side of the car to the other....

I promised to repair the front scuttle panel during the summer....

It never happened...
