Seems ok to me, thanks. Because I took an inexplicably long time to swap it I've not had a chance to do anything like check the tappets, change the oil etc, but it got me home fine. Thanks, very, very much.

Ah cool, I can vouch for the plugs being brand new NGK's at least, they've been run for all of about 2 minutes.

Fitted a borrowed engine at long last, in what must have been the longest engine swap in history.

I had the Land rover on the drive for, er, eight months while I swapped the engine over. Beat that!

Had another go at adjusting the front brakes on the old Dyane. One side is OK, but I can't shift the adjusters on the backplate of the nearside drum at all. Tried everything, but I can't get anything except an open ended spanner on it and I think I've rounded the bolt head off a bit more than it already was. Time to get the gearbox out and investigate further ...

Changed the tow hitch bracket for the bike carrier version and found out why the trailer lights don't work............ :? :?

The plug wiring on the van has never been connected, it's just coiled up and taped to the chassis

Hi DD!

In "other Dyane" news, I've just finished resetting the timing. I'd fitted a new points cam, but the timing was about four teeth different between cylinders and it was pinking like crazy. So I've put the old cam back on, reset it all statically (for the last time ... I've got a strobe light in the post) and it's a lot better now. Tomorrow's job will be to stop the throttle sticking and work out why it runs out of fuel in the float chambers when I corner on the doorhandles.
