Post Re: 8/31 gear box
After thinking (may be too much...) about this question I'm tempted to instal the Dyane6 gearbox (8/31) without changing anything... :?
Is anyone driving his 2cv in this situation, and using a 652 engine?
If so, what can you tell me about the performances and RPM?
Thanks!

Sorry to be rude but...

All the time your spending here asking questions and opinons you can better spend at putting the gearbox in and find out for yourself... What I like is not what you like and so on, so why don't you try it, and tell us if you like it or not.

b.t.w. I pefer 2cv4 gearboxes at visa engines and they are still to high geared....  so I put in even lower gearing...

(nothing personal here but I hate people who are asking the same questions
over and over again)......

and no I'm not having a bad day.....

You're right Ipgo - I admit I'm so confused about what to do that I've turned boring (rude, if you want).
Anyway, you're not having a bad day but I'm having bad days... :)

Then pick up your tools give it a go, 8/33 gearbox out 8/31 gearbox in less rpm thats it!!!

I think its better for a 652, a 652 doesn't like high rpm...... pistons are to heavy making a
lot of dead weight at high rpm...

The 8/31 box is ready to be mounted on my 2cv, but there will only be some feed-back next week (the mechanic is a lot busy this week).
Thank you all for your advice and patience. ;)

Post Re: 8/31 gear box
Hi guys,
Unfortunately I've got bad news from my 2cv - the 8/31 gearbox isn't really different from the original 2cv6'.
Indeed I can't feel any difference at all. I haven't tested the car on motorways yet, but it appears the performances make no difference... Once again I'm confused.
During the weekend I'll make the final test (motorway driving).
