Easily done when your talking about botched up shit resto's

Me chis and Russ where looking at a P and C dol ly which had been restored by them. Full of filler. Terrible! Even in te wheels !!!

I met the owner who was impressed by its lack of rusting ability, and I explained how filler doesn't rust!

tbh mine isnt, well wasnt /too/ bad. Having said that its needed one and a half new floors, a bit of sill and is going in for some welding around the rear seat box along with new rear inner wings, as yes, they are full of filler  Considering what the guy my dad bought it off paid for it, that is pretty shit but oh well. It only had a partial rebuild not a full on restoration though, so that might be the reason it doesnt have a fibreglass bulkhead  As far as I can work out where it has rusted, its not been due to filler falling out... Its the shitty underseal stuff that they stick everywhere.... They put a load down a seem on under side of rear seatbox... 6 years later, give it a prod and you get a shitload of water and a nice squidy crusty bit of metal falling off. Im just hoping that after the new inner wings and sweeps, Ill have undone most of the bodgeworthyness.

Sorry for lack of apostrophes... These frog keyboards are weird as chips.

Here's a few pics of the Vert Jade 2CV that the City had on display at the ICCCCCCR in Harrogate- these were taken back in June before the paint went on.

I thought stitch welding repairs wouldn't pass an MOT? Why don't they use a spot welder?

Anyone got any idea as to why the floors are sitting underneath the lip on the rear box?
I guess it's the same reason as the floor is sometimes sandwiched between the inner and outer toeboard panels on "restaurations".
If it's possible to save time by doing things the wrong way...

The floor isn't under the seat box ken, I'm pretty sure it's in the right place but the stitch welds from underneath have penetrated through. I don't get why they've stitched it though, why not just spot it like Citroen did, so it looks original and you don't have to hide your work under loads of sealer?

I cant weld,so who am I to comment, but why not weld it all the way around? Surely it would be stronger.I understand that a lot of heat might distort the panels, but after the guy has done that,he could go back and join them up? :?

I despise seeing fully mig welded seams, unless its a plate repair (fitted flush) ground away its not acceptable.

patch in an panel needs full seam, a replacement panel can be joined using the original method ( plug/puddle spots with the mig) if it were a a patch in the floor that abutted the sill then 3 sides would be fully seamed and the return ( folded bit) could be spotted to the sill as was that bit of the original panel.

i tend to stitch weld the ends of the floors like that on the racers (but with the panel fitted properly) makes for a stiffer shell don't like long migs on the sill floor joint as i feel that it burns the sill and the corrosion kicks in too quick, i prefer to spot along the double skin where you can get both sides of the spot covered and any corrosion inhibiting fluid will be drawn down into the the seam inside the sill.
