Is the little electronic thingy on the carb connected to your live feed? My 1220cc ran like a sack of sh1t without it.

Tim, it is connected, but must admit I have never tested it to see if it is live or indeed working!!

As I said earlier it does run at maybe 2000rpm or there abouts but as soon as it goes below, it's a straight cut out!!

I do however get a click when I turn the key, (well now flick the switch before I hit the push button start) is that perhaps that little electronic thingy u speak about coming to life??
Or possibly something else??

That could be any relay making a click. Try putting the ignition on and then disconnecting the wire to the 'little electronic thingy', if it's working you'll probably feel the click through it's body.

I feel ya pain joolz,, I'm getting sick of trying to fix my car!!

When out this afternoon, had a look at the jets looked ok, although they could probably of done with a blow out !!
The click is indeed the "in the words of Tim that thingy on the side of the carb" if it clicks is it working??

The beast started up, well sort of, ran like a pile of shite would be putting it politely, it was banging, popping cutting out even start with a whining noise, all sorts of bollocks, it's really pissing me off now!!
I just want an engine that runs as I've still plenty to do without all this messing about,

I've just brought another one, been stored for years unfortunately, and might need a lot of work, but tempted to start work on that one when I get it, might run a bit better even in its run down state!!

Think an email to rob at chevronic might be in order c if he's got anything!!

I know where there's a complete ami super based 2cv kit car with a 1299 in it. £300. It's in slough.

How does it run when you disconnect the fuelhose and let it run on startpilot or fuel sprinkled at the airfilter?? Does it intend to run better then?? Then it is your carb deffinitive.

Otherwise it can be your rotor/rotorcap?? coil leads sparkplugs......... spark module wrong timing......

Timing is a good one try to turn the ignition give imore advance look if it runs better then.

When the starterengine tends to break down when starting (a cold enginer) your have to much advance back it up a little...

Haven't tried the fuel hose removal yet, will give that a quick go 2moro!!
Timing has always been a problem, had a play around with that at the weekend, whilst it was running, we turned the cap and didn't seem to make a different either way we turned it, just run crappier!!!!

Coil, plugs leads everything is new!!!

It's not a tooth out on the belt is it? I don't know much about flat fours but there isn't a chance you've got the timing belt on a tooth one side or the other of the mark is there?

It's a Bedouin jeep thing that's completely rotten. It's in a yard of A type cars which is being cleared. I have no idea what it's like or if the engine even turns over. It could do with being moved ASAP. I will try and find some photos once I've had a fag.

Shit there's an idea, never thought about that one....

Replaced them both soon after I got it, but certainly worth pulling the front off again just to make sure, would make a lot of sense, considering all the problems I'm having,
There's a job for the weekend then..
Cheers fellas...
