Post 8/31 gear box
Hi!
Any problem when fitting an 8/31 differential into a normal 2cv6 gear box (8/33)?
Thanks!

None whatsoever...

Ratio will between standard 602 and AK box. Doubt you'll feel any difference....

Well, when you instal an 8/31 differential into a 2cv6 gear box (8/33) I suppose you´ll get longer speeds, I mean if you drove at 100km/h before, then you'll reach maybe 106km/h.
Am I wrong?
As my engine is a 652 I guess this way it will run better...

Remember to install the matching pinion, they are machined as a set. Also you need to reset the pinion depth, back lash and preload on the crown bearing.

100 or 106 kmph is the same to me.

For my it is very noticible???

Don't let a 652 rev to high (6000+) it isn't build for reving so a 31/8 will help you doing that, theres torq enough in a 652 so it will easily do that, try to get a complet dyane 6/ ami 8 gearbox, it will bring down rpm even more so you can maintain a good averige speed with less rpm and engine noise.... fuelleconomics will be the same however......

don't use lna gearbox, they are to high geared for 2cv wheels,, it will burn your clutch.

(This all is my opinion do with it what you want)

Lna is the best for visa, you can do 110km/h in 3rd!
Although 1st gear is a bit long... :(

Post Re: 8/31 gear box
Ipgo, I've got a complete Dyane 6 gear box (8/31), but I was told that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears will be shorter than the ones in the 2cv6 box (8/36). Only the 4th will be longer - is that so?
In case your answer is yes, don't you think it is a good idea to instal the 8/31 differential into the remaining 2cv6 gear box?
My goal is to have an engine with less rpm. For instance, it would be nice to drive at 90Km/h with just 3000 or 3500 rpm. Now, using the standard 2cv6 box, I'm having 4000rpm...

Put the whole Dyane gearbox in,

2. gear and 4 gear are the same in both gearboxes, only 1. and 3. are slighty lower at dyane 6. So topspeed is the same (4. gear but with 31/8 it is in total higher then 33/8 of 2cv)

Take a look at this....

OK, but if I do so, I won't get a longer 4th gear, right?
So it is better to keep the 2cv6 gearbox (8/33) which is working well, I guess...
