If you have a smart phone you can download an app that uses sat-nav to give you various stats.

No running with normal carb. Do not know if need new carb as much better than before. As for speed not sure - no speedo but before on flat and slight down hill bike would 4 stroke and restrict speed, now pulls onwards and speed much quicker - maybe 40 - 50kms/ hour (on slight down hills). Maybe buy a bicycle speedo and see but it would spoil the old look...

Hi Dyane61976

There's a further mod you can do that maybe beneficial. The engines are not really designed for massive revs and you can run the risk of burning out the coil. However you can fit a diode in the circuit to protect it. I'll see if I can find some info for you.

The best ported barrel I've found so far is marked TUM 80A.

Bought small neat wireless bicycle speedo thingy this morning and took Solex for a spin. On the flat it is doing 32.6kph and on the slope down to the next village it was doing 44kph on the way down and 23.8kph on the way back. Not going for speed record but it feels a lot better since mods to ports

I tried a wireless computor but gave wrong readings due to the magneto flywheel, reverted to wired ones and they work well. Sounds like yours is OK given the speeds and mods you have done. Hope your having fun.
cheers. Geoff :geek:

Lars, you maybe surprised that they can be made to go very fast, there is Solexes built up to race and much competition in France where it is not unusual to reach speeds of 100 kmh (60 mph). These are heavily modified and the front tyre only lasts one race? Would be quite frightening :geek:
