 Magic gold fairy dust?
Appearing unde the bonnet. Gathers on surfaces, presumably having been whipped around by the fan. Could be copper deposits?
What's likely to be chaffing/dissolving?
I'll whip the fan off and have a gander at the oil feed pipes.
Or am I worrying over nothing and should relax and be in the money?

 Re: Magic gold fairy dust?
Ok problem solved - it was the jubilee clip for the CPD valve chafing on the brass nut that holds the fuel filter inside the carb
