Apart from that my problem is that the front brakes are now much stronger than the rears, so I need to find a way to uprate the rear brakes.

I think for belgium racers they use gs rear hubs on 2cv arms.

Joolz,
some more maths...

If you fit Ami8/Acadiane rear wheel cylinders (17.5mm bore) instead of the 16mm ones on your 2CV at present, that will increase the braking effort on the rear end by 20%.

Close enough? ;)

I have GS calipers with a 2CV master cylinder, they lock up easily.

The GS calipers have bigger pistons and operate on a bigger diameter disc, the brakes should be 26% stronger if working correctly, I did the maths. :geek:

If the pedal feels soft I'm guessing there's still some air in there somewhere, I think there's some air in my system, the pedal always travels a bit further on the first press, but it still locks the brakes, just further down the travel.

Apart from that my problem is that the front brakes are now much stronger than the rears, so I need to find a way to uprate the rear brakes.

Thanks Ken :) , I thought it likely that there would be something from the vans or amis that I could use, but had failed to find those when I looked, they should do the job nicely.

If you REALLY need a set of discs, I _might_ be able to get some when we get to Romania soon, delivery to the UK late autumn. Maybe. But I'm REALLY not promising anything. They should be available in France, since Axels were sold there - which means you MIGHT be able to order them in the UK.

So, we're here. If anybody wants me to see if I can get some discs or spacers, I can try. Oltcits are rocking-horse crap here. I think we've seen maybe half a dozen in a week so far.

Dacia-built Renault 12s, by comparison, are just about the most common vehicle on the road. I could easily source a few diesel LWB, RWD crewcab R12 pickups with the most god-awful plastic facelift ever and serious structural rot, if you want?

That sounds right up my street, can you get a 2cv on the pick up bed?

Very you. I suspect a 2cv would go right through the bed on most of 'em. The tupperware cab over the back's probably all that's holding the tailgate on.

It's the fact they used normal estate rear doors, with a cut-out for the wheelarch, despite the wheelarch now being a foot further back that makes me giggle.

Did You see also this, from same 2cv..? (Brake discs aren't from Citroen)

And there is my solution, when use 2cv engine and starter, GS gearbox with Visa bellhouse.

Works fine, 115km/h on 3-gear... (it could go faster, but speed limit was 70km/h there)

Thanks for the offer Toomany, I ordered a set of discs and calipers from a Romanian tuning forum which should have arrived by now, but I wont be home for another 2 weeks to check!

Yeah thanks for the pics Jasu, I'm surprised that after all the reading I did into this conversion and the people that I spoke to this spacing difference was never mentioned!
My final build will be with the Visa engine so I will leave the bellhousing as it is and fit my new starter then.

Do you know what type/brand of vented discs your mate use on the turbo car?

Cheers

Harley
