how often do you need to change engines? adding something else that will go wrong into the mix how much time is that going to save in the average year?

Probably two or three times in the next week, and it's something that should be quick but takes ages because of all the fiddly guff like wires and headlamp bars.

Yep, looks like it. Although as of Tuesday we hadn't got any engines finished. Still, only a week to go.

I've had to leave the wiring as my car's second on the priority list, and as James says, I can just rest the headamp assy on the bulkhead, I just like the neatness of unplugging it and storing it out the way where it can't get damaged or fall off. To get the engine out I have two 10mm nuts on the coil, one on the alternator, the spade terminal on the alternator and the oil pressure switch. The throttle linkage and choke involve two 8mm bolts, and a split pin. The wings are all standard so are a total cock to remove, ideally I'd like some of those quick release A panel clips, anybody know where to get them? Once they're off, the headlamp bar slides upwards and out, then it's just the exhaust (I could do with some of the quick release clamps, where do you get them from?) fuel pipe, engine mounts and bellhousing nuts. Not more than 20 mins work for one person.

The A-panel clips, these the ones you're thinking of, from belgian guy PP. Should be easy enough to copy.

Actually, looks to me like they're the original part with a hook welded on the top, combined with a spring and a long bolt.

Yeah they're the buggers, but you're right, they're not the cunning little piece of engineering I thought they were. I have all the kit to make them at work, and it'd take all of five minutes. I think I'll save myself the €30 and do it meself.

The best one I've seen was a shock/bungee cord attached to top and bottom of the A panel, with one of those trailer hooks attached to the bulkhead.
Quick and easy...

p.s.
Powerpole 45A for the alternator?

& SBA or SBG blade connectors on the coil?
