Post Stupid electrical questions
Having been told by several people last weekend I should actually look after my car abit more, decided ima fix everything that's broken on it before snet.
Firstly, on the two relay changeovers for dim dip, what does the middle "87a" socket connector do? Anything important? I've got a spare relay but it was designed for some spot lights. I've put it on and it works fine, but there's no middle socket for it.
Secondly, my oil warning light's becoming more and more intermitant. No loose connections or anything. I think its the sensor. Guessing this is buried somewhere behind all the horrible crumbling rubber shit on the engine. Is it worth bothering about it or not, as I've been told if it comes on its either a dodgy sensor or your engine will be already be well knackered by the time it comes on.
Thirdly, cheers for reading this utter bollocks.
JK

james - No its a switch over relay thats in the sysytem where a trigger ( ignition on ) switches one circut( parking lights) over to the other (dipped beam via resistor)

just bin the dim dip - see Louis thread about switches actually being on fire innit*.

If the only part of the system that has been removed is the resistor (cylinder on the front chassis cross member) then the dim-dip feature will no longer be working, however the relays will still be doing their best to overload the side light contacts in the switch.

i.e. You've got the worst of both worlds, bin the relays and fit a jumper lead as per the pic in Louis' thread.
