Glad you're alright, car not rebuildable? Morbid wreckage pics please.

It was dark when it happened, took a couple of pictures today of getting it upright, but they're on my conventional camera, you'll have to wait for me to finish the film / develop / scan them...

Car is fairly knackered, I'm waiting to see if I get into uni or not before deciding whether to seriously consider it or not. Chassis arms are rather bent, but it's a city one, so I'm not that bothered. Two of the suspension arms are twisted at interesting angles, all of the wings / bonnet completely shot. I was quite surprised at how strong the body was, it must have dropped quite a way before landing upside down, but the main shell has remained roughly the same shape, just a bit distorted / squashed around the edges.

I'm almost certain the insurance company will take a dim view off it, so don't think there's any hope of it living any longer as F741 HGU, but maybe, if I don't get into university, and if I find another cheap shell with rotten floors, get an SLC chassis... I have sufficient wings, doors, bonnets, even a couple of axles and arms. Ridiculous I know, but I was really very fond of that car.

Anyway, I get results on Thursday, it's win-win either way! :P

Good luck, on all fronts. My car has about 10% of the parts it left the factory with in 1979, the registration numbers are just there to make life easy for the dvla, hope you get (some) of it back n the road again.

Left the car open the last two nights in the hope of someone stealing my rancid sleeping bag and all the camping shite... I finally unpacked today and went on a mega cruise with 3 mates and a crate, not for me I add. Went up many a mountain I doubted it'd get up but it did, and managed 0 - 60 in 35 seconds 4 up which I didn't think was too bad for the piece of shit it is. Anyway yeah, extra bon 2cv evening. Also sick cruising tune = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9qvCTdBLDs

went for a wee run tonight, roof down..
stopped for ice cream, wouldn't restart, not even a click from the starter :( whacked the solenoid with the wheel brace and it worked again :)

its been a bit hit and miss since I got the car and I sourced a spare starter a while ago, so fitted it tonight when I got home.....Amazing how brisk this one turns over compared to the old one !

Glad your ok george

A mate of mine is fighting a 3rd party insurance after his truck was hit doing '1500 pounds worth of damage' actually new bumper and indicater + fitting 200+ time

He fought with his lawful rights to not have it written off etc so maybe you should do that and then go from there

Of the shell is salvagable why not do some panel beating, worth a go since you can weld a treat!!!!

48pop,
if it's an Iskra unit, don't bin the old one just yet, as it's relatively easy to fit new brushes in them.
