Not my A series, but Joolz and I mended this, while DaveB and our friend Mike fitted windows to it, although I think they had an overwhelming urge to lick them. And when we'd finished that, we put a gearbox, brakes, driveshafts and kingpins in it too.

I had a water leak through my rear screen since I brought the car and just accepted this as the joys of 2cv ownership. But decided to try and fix it last night as I could see day light between the seal and the roof. So I removed part of the filler strip re shaped the frame so it went back into the seal, and proceeded to put the filler strip back in. The long forgotten joys of doing this without the correct tool soon came flooding back. But it's all back together and not leaking so was worth the effort.

Fitted 123 ignition, changed gearbox and engine oil, checked tappets, fitted additional fuse box for accessories, cleaned a few bits then ran out of time with bits of bodywork scattered around the garden.

Used the car to get to work this afternoon and enjoyed the sunshine with the hood fully open on the journey there and back home this evening. Looking to head off fairly early tomorrow and spend the day exploring some part of this beautiful island of Great Britain.

Washed & leathered, levels checked, roof down. Off to Silverstone shortly, camping with my Bentley chums. My Turbo R is borked this year (mega MOT failure) so I'm going in the deuche. Go team Phantom! http://www.pmcuk.com/content.asp?id=77

How receptive to your 2cv are your Bentley chums? I guess the natural assumption I'm making is that they will laugh you out of the place and be quite rude, but Im probably wrong aren't I?

It's just the same as 2CV meets, camping, beer, burgers, racing, arsing about, spare parts, stalls, rows and rows of cars, some shiny, some not so shiny. Kids driving family heirlooms on the old runway in the infield of an evening. Plummy accents abound of course, and then there's me, at the 'rough' end

Fixed the window on mine this morning, at work, so I'll be 10mins less productive today...
