Me and the good lady went in the BB up via Beeston castle to Runcorn Holiday Inn last night and came back via Cheshire Oaks this afternoon with the roof off - lovely...

I've had a weekend of tinkering on both cars.

Chris' 2cv:
Treated and painted the free and less rusty battery tray.
Painted the wiper arms.
Gave it a tarts wash in the garage because I couldn't be bothered to move 2 cars off the drive.

My van:
Discovered the wonders of rust removal with a wire brush in my electric drill.
Treated and painted some rust on the petrol tank cover.
Took all the rust off the tool box flap hinge, then treated and painted.
Got my new wheels out, 3 coats of hammerite on the backs, couple of coats of gris rose on the fronts, drizzled in some waxoyl.

Attempted to get tyres changed over at the only tyre place that was open, but not sure if I was put off more by:
a) the manager's sharp intake of breath as he commented on the skinniness of the tyres as if it would have caused major issues.
b) the customer in reception who was told his car was ready, but then asked if the tracking had been checked (it hadn't) and then if the window wipers had been changed (they hadn't despite the fact they had told him they needed changing).
c) the price for changing the tyres over went up each time I spoke to the manager and ended up at £52.
d) it was KWIK FIT.

I beat a hasty retreat before tyres and wallets were damaged, went home and eat fajitas.

went to work, went to pick up No1 son's stuff from his flat - shouted at a taxi driver who did a u turn with no signal and then claimed he didn't see a bright orange 2cv, came home - no issues

Got home after driving 2000 miles in a zafira, turned into my street and thought "OH FUCK, A 2CV".

Bought me one of these on a the Germen Deutsche Enten Treffen last week:

Best invention ever to keep the windows open..
Much better than those iron rattling thingies..

Also did some work on the car yesterday to keep water out..
Filled the seam bonnet hinge with some sealant, and also below the windshield..
Topped the sealant off with a coat of anti stone chip.. as the car wont be in new condition ever, i dont care how this job looks, as long as it helps to keep the water out..

for the rest, the same as sean, minus the son, and taxi

The council cowboys turned up & almost on time too... Only 20 mins late. They fixed said door after having to return to Cornwall council HQ 15 miles away to pick up the (correct  ) bits.

The YSH now liberated could be badly packed in readiness for the ICCCCCCCCR! :)

Yesterday, fitted a new coil, adjusted the handbrake and went for a drive.
This evening, fitted a new rubber mat in the load area.
Keep putting off fitting the 123 ignition as I know it's not going to be a 5 minute job.

Fitting a 123 doesn't take long at all, you could do it in half an hour easily. Welcome, btw!
