I think you're right there about the actual ride, Ken, but seeing a bike being driven in reverse was pretty cool.

I am not sure if it was fitted with brakes, either (I can see a pedal on both sides, but is the brake connected to anything? If so, what?). The owner also said the response to the throttle was pretty odd: some problem with using a motorcycle twist-grip with less travel than is given by a 2CV pedal.

I've always thought bikes are death traps but now I think this has been confirmed by these.......

True but I think it would still be fun to ride one (for a very short amount of time and distance) just to see how bad it actually is!

The most dangerous part of a bike is the rider, bikes aren't inherently 'death traps'.

Good point Chris....although these with nice bendy 2cv tubing and the absence of brakes may indicate more fthe order than the latter.....

Which bit of a 2cv is made from tubing? The only bit I can think of that faintly resembles tube is the A pillar to C pillar bit, but I wouldn't call it a tube as such?

Thanks, Nels and, yes, heavens knows what these handle like on the road, my guess is worse than early Japanese bikes of the late 70's with their fully flexible frames with hidden hinges in the middle!

But, of course, these are French built and they have a totally different (and refreshing, I have to say) attitude to the dreaded Health and Safety. A system of restrictive practices brought into place by people who tell us we can't be 'free' because we need to be 'safe'.
