Re: Solexes I'm guessing one way of feeding a new cable through the frame is to attach it somehow to the end of the old cable, then pull the old cable out and hope the new one comes through okay.

Even if you could find "normal" bike tyres in the right size, they wouldn't last two minutes. There's a whole stack of Slowlex suppliers on the web. I've used VeloCruz in the US before - there didn't used to be any easy way to buy from the various French suppliers, but I think a few are online now.
