Today I drilled out the old studs and welded in the new ones, fitted the new shoes and took it up the road, all is good again. With my house move coming up, I'm thinking of having a serious clear out and going back down to one or two cars again, one of which will be my yellow car which is now booked in for an MOT and is re-insured. It could therefore mean that the right offer will see this moving to another home, along with my peugeot partner van and my AX. (although obviously not the same home, I'd guess)

That ENAC hatch conversion is really quite clever. It reminds me of the hatch/boot on the current Skoda Superb. Wish the 80s Citroen hatch had that duel opening setup.

It's clever apart from the boot floor, which really needs to be hinged so as to reveal the huge area of space beneath, where the spare wheel usually sits. I'm not sure why it doesn't, really, as it'd be jolly handy. They moved the spare wheel, I assume to make it easier to change a tyre when fully laden, however it'd make more sense that the space was useable for something.

how does the 2 way boot work?
ive got the full hatch back but sometimes you just want to open the boot and throw stuff in rather than struggle with the full heavy hatch
unfortunatley its screw fitted at the bottom so its all or nothing

It's basically the same as the later conversion kit, it uses the roof as a hinge but instead of being attached at the bottom the boot simply rests on the metal frame.

I can't see why you can't remove the stud that fits inside the lock bracket and stops us from just using the boot-lid. I may have a look sometime and see what's what.

I still own this. It's rotting away in a barn because I can't be bothered to MOT it. Or look at the clutch. But if anybody else fancies taking the engine out, sorting the clutch and taking it for an MOT (at your expense) then by all means help yourself. My trabant turns up Saturday so I doubt I'll be giving it much thought until that's done.
