We noticed today that our newly fitted exhaust system touches the body of the car under the wheel well. This seems a bit strange to us. I do not think that it was like this when we picked the car up from the garage. However, we are not sure if it is normal or if since it is newly fitted maybe it moved a bit out of place during our recent 400 km drive. Is it normal? Or should we take the car in to have it adjusted?

Yah the more I see online in photos, it really seems like the exhaust has moved back and come into contact with the wheel well. Would that be fairly easy for us to adjust?

What do you mean about new floors? Sorry were new... The only work we have had done was the new exhaust system.

Probably needs releasing at the front end of the torpedo silencer - the one down the side of the car - and pushing the front piece forward a little and then tightening the clamp up.

You may have to release the clamp on the central exhaust too if it won't stay in place and then clamp up again once adjusted.

Unfortunately, 2cv exhausts are often a labour of love to get right!

Btw - make sure you arm yourselves with a tube of exhaust paste first before you start taking the exhaust to bits....

Never ever use exhaust paste!! It sets solid, cracks, makes a right mess and doesn't work. Ensure the mating faces of the exhaust are clean and use a smear of copperslip/copper anti
Sieze paste.

Hi guys, so what I understand is that the exhaust should not sit like that. Is this something I need to have adjusted right away or can we drive the car in the current state? We just dont want to hurt the car (or its new exhaust system) but we also want to enjoy the car over the next few days while we are still down in France. I think what we would like to do is drive the car short trips over the next 5 days then leave the car at the Citroen garage for them to fix it while we are out of town the following week.

It would only take a few minutes to fix, loosen off the clamp from the swan neck/crossbox joint and where it joins the torpedo silencer. Move it to where you want it (not touching the body) and tighten the clamps back up.

Just take your time, you might find it easier to remove the front wing, but it can be done by keeping it in place. Lovely car by the way!

I doubt you will do much damage to the car using it for a short period, but it will probably only take ten minutes to fix and the sound of it hitting the wing will probably drive you insane...
