Sam,
Did you test your manonomonomonometer on something you knew work?

what like atmospheric pressure?

a u shaped tube open at both ends& filled with lhm - cant not work ;)
all you are doing is measuring the small differance in pressure between either end - plug one end in the dipstick tube.

Sean, yes I use those at work But as I understand it of there isn't a good connection to what your testing the results could be inaccurate?
Not saying you've got it wrong just curious, Sam

James,
if it was possible to create a perfect vacuum inside the crankcase, a water manometer would need to be 34 feet (408 inches) high in order to measure it.
Considering that an acceptable difference in level of the liquid in the manometer legs is only 2.5 inches, that should give you some idea of just how feeble the crankcase 'vacuum' is in real terms.
Any instrument will give an inaccurate reading if it's not properly connected, with an engine manometer all that's needed is a good seal between the plastic pipe and the dipstick tube. ;)

Well, funny you should ask.I have had the gear box back from Rick and am in the middle of assembling the brakes, pics to follow later today.
The chassis has gone off to be powder coated, should have it back next friday. Then I can assemble it,re fit the body and take it to Graham in Cornwall to have the floors and kick panel done.
Then is just a case of putting it all back together.Almost everthing else is done, just a few things to sort out, black box etc.
I will post pics as I go along.I must admit,I am getting slightly frustrated as it has slowed down considerably lately, but once the chassis is done,it should be full steam ahead :P .

Either Daves fucked his van right up or you've posted in the wrong thread. But good work James.

Yes,good job James, but alot of work for such a small bit of welding.I do get your drift about nipping it in the bud though ;)

Right, pics of gearbox.Just need to fit the brake pipe and gear stick gaiter(when I get one) and we are ready to rock.
