If the weathers nice I'll do breakfast club, probably not London to Brighton this year. How much luggage are you bringing to Frants?

Actually got something to update. Today, in the worst biblical rain this planet has ever seen my wipers gave up. The only way to get them to move was by constantly thumping the dash where the motor is. I took the motor off and opened it up at lunchtime to reveal 50 year old grease like earwax and the brushes only faintly resting on the commutator. I cleaned the grease out, lubricated the linkages and spindles, cleaned the commutator and brushes with emery cloth and bent the little rod things the brushes are mounted on. Upon reassembly the wipers now fly across the screen with such force that they rock the car from side to side. Actually, they don't but they're bloody good for 6v wipers and I have a sense of achievement that I took something broken and I made it work. Just one question, should the wipers work when the ignition is off, mine do, but I didn't think they should.

So, right now I should be at a beer festival with some chums, but I'm not. I'm sitting in my lounge writing this instead. Why? Because my bastard 2cv won't work. It worked perfectly last night, with exception of the brake lights which I fixed this morning. Then, when it came to time for me to leave for the beer festival it stutters, farts, coughs and stall but doesn't work properly.

It looks like the points have had it, but the only tools I have at home are a small screwdriver and bit set, so I can't get the fan off. And it's pissing down. And I'm a tad browned off with it.

Mike, the fellow I procured it from who lives round the corner has offered to lend me a socket to get the fan off and in the morning I'll whack the points off the spare four twenty Cinq in it and it'd better make the bloody effort and start or Im going to get all basil fawlty on its hatchback equipped arse.

My plan to leave it until this morning before I fixed the points isn't panning out too well. It's pissing down as I should have expected. I think I've found the cause of the clutch judder though. When I was desperately trying to get it to run yesterday I noticed the flywheel doesn't sit quite right. As the engine turns over it looks like its either not seated on the crank or it's bent. I couldn't move it by hand but I suspect if I could it wouldn't be working at all. I'm buggered. If I'm taking the engine out of it today as well, so it looks like a job for another time.
