Post Has my hood shrunk?
I've had it rolled fully back during the recent hot weather but now temps are returning to normal again I tried to shut it and can't get the centre clips anywhere near to engaging.

Is there something I'm missing or should I wait for a warm day to expand it again? But then I would want to roll it fully back again wouldn't I? Oh bugger. Anyone help?

Yep, it's shrunk. Probably best to leave the centre clips undone until it's sat in the sunshine for a bit when it'll expand and you may be able to stretch it over them. In my experience, a roof has a service life of around 5-7 years of living outside in all weathers before it needs replacing.

Maybe it's worth trying to set it by the bolts bellow the back window and the ones in the side pivots finding a sweet spot.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Guess what, the sun's come out and after 30 minutes parked outside everything attached just fine. So memo to self - only release those clips when it's likely to remain warm :)

Matts Soft Tops only shrink if you dip them in bleach/water 50/50 solution. Even then, less than a standard hood! Don't ask...

Ours has been on the car now since 2001 and it's not shrunk at all, although it could do with another clean now.

If you buy to cheap, the hood might die within three years.
A good hood lasts MANY years, but costs double up.

If you are TO greedy (which most 2CV-driver are), you just have to change a bit more often.
