Clutch next. The van has the heavy flywheel fitted, but has not got the carbon type thrust bearing. The whole unit is obvously new,as there is no wear on the clutch plate, and it just looks new:D The operating arm has suffered some damage where the release bearing is held in place. There are no signs of rubbing on the cover,so I am assuming it must have been rubbing on the old unit.I was given another arm in a box of bits from Rythem Thief, but that is excactly the same. I will refit this clutch as there is nothing wrong with it,and it was working, even though there was so much play in the pedal due to the bushing on the bulkhead hanging off:eek: If anyone could throw some light on the clutch arm damage, that would be usefull.I think that it must be a common problem as both arms have the same damage.

Whatever for? The 'beak' valves are available and easily replaced, plus the styling of those old filler/breather units is so much better than the later type, wouldn't you agree? ken samfieldhouse wrote: Ditch that breather dave and fit a proper one or a CPD valve

Not much to go wrong, is there? Apart from old age, which is a different topic altogether... ken dave 411 wrote: Do the beak things work?

dave 411 wrote: Do the beak things work? Nope. Mine has the same breather as yours but being a later engine should have the fatter Ami 6 type. I tested my beak breather with a manononmeter and it did nothing (and it was new too). I binned the beak gubbins and kept the breather like yours but put a CPD valve inline between the breather and the air filter - what a difference! The engine drips a lot less too. I think, like 123, it's a case of improving on the original. The CPD valave is a development. If you're going to fit 123, then 'upgrade' the other parts too. Apart from the CPD valve, you wouldn't know looking at Het's breather that she had one fitted.
