tried them but was too much

how can it be to much if they will cover you and others won't?? You mean you can't afford to insure it? If companies can't find an underwriter there's very little we can do, all insurances are going up and tighterning up

Seems to be more of an 'I can't afford it' problem, as opposed to a 'nobody will insure it' one. To be honest, I'd happily be 17 again and pay a grand or so to insure a car just so I could legitimately hang about with 6th form snatch.

And you'll continue to do so till you're 25.

Firstly James, it's 'gUEss' not 'gEUss' and secondly.....It was like it 10 years ago, and has always been the case. I'm now the wrong side of 40 and I had to wait till I was 25 to take advantage of a classic car policy.

At 18 I was paying £2500 for tpft. We've all been there, and it's shit, I know. But all the time you can get insured, get insured, because right now I'm still working my way upto my first years NCD because I thought I'd be smart and use classic car insurance, as after all, I'd always be driving old car right? Then I got old and didn't have any NCD and it turned out I was wrong about new cars being shit too and hey presto im pushing 30 and my scabby little 1800 diesel van costs me in excess of £600 to insure f/c. You lot are moaning about a few grand but by the time you're my age assuming you don't stack as many cars as I have you'll be paying peanuts for insurance.
