and the helpfull post.....

have you tried Fire extinguisher companies? often there are local firms that will re fill a fire extinguisher with co2 an old bottle, the correct cheap ( ill forward one if you want to ebay it) regulator and you can bin the gassless and hook up that ESAB! Not as clean as argon co2 o2 mix but itll save Russ's sex life.

due to technical difficulties answers of a tricky matter will have to wait till Wikkapedia is up again....

"argoshield light" or "cougar" which is 93% Ar 5%CO2 2%O2 is what you need for the thin stuff as the argon supports the arc at lower settings Co2 or Co2 rich "heavy" mixes is for much thicker steel welded at much higher amperages

it certainly made a huge difference welding thin 2cv steel the weld pool was much "wetter" and flowed at lowest settings whereas co2 seemed a colder weld and much more prone to stuttering

Also remember gas fittings are different on UK bottles to European gauges.

if your getting a UK Argon mix you will need....

Image
or similar

that esab looks like it only has 2 power settings might be worth checking what the minimum aperage is or you could be blowing holes in everything.

http://www.welding.org.uk/esabmanuals/Instruction%20Manuals/Origo%20Mag%20C140,%20C150,%20C170,%20C200,%20C250.pdf

35amps minimum might need a bit of practice to get used to it.

On air would like to thanks Neil heaps for helping me getting these gassless welding wires, which the UK business didn't want to ship to France.
They arrived today.

Neil you're very good man. The Viking Gods are plessing you.

Cheers mate and happy birthday.

Glad it turned up ok. I spent ages making a large address label & water proofing it, only to have the Post Office counter woman stick some flimsy-ass label right over the top of my handywork.

Helping one another - it's what 2cving should be all about! :)

Bloody hell, here we go again. Just finished an old gear box and used the last 2 out put hub seals. Bought stock down under long time ago. Looking for seals in France but nothing available or I don't know where to look.

Since I'm at it, I'll stock up on Visa crank shaft seal, M4 seals too but need to find an online shop in the UK supplying oil seals.

Out put hub seals on old gear boxes are 50x32x10
Any help is appreciated

Cheers
Viking
