Post Gris Rose.
I thought this had been asked before - even by myself - but a 'search' only gives two returns, neither of which provides the answer...

Gris Rose, as used on bumpers and wheels, comes in two varieties, I believe, AC136 and AC140. Any idea which was used on the trim of late 80's Specials?

Thanks.

AC 136, I think? AC 140 simply says 'grey' (or Gris) when googled.

Then again, that pillar of the 2cving community Darren Arthurs website claims its AC140 for wheels and bumpers, so ignore what I said, I don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks Russell.

Cats says AC136 is gris rose from 1961-67, and AC140 is gris rose from 1967-90.

Thanks, Joolz. I did have a look on there before but read that AC140 was dated 09/67-03/78 so it still left me confused when considering my '89er. I guess 140 is the more likely, tho'.

Anyone know which of the two is the lighter shade? And - to fully earn yer spurs - is there, say, a RAL colour that comes close? By 'close', I mean that if someone who's fairly familiar with 2CVs sees it, they wouldn't recoil with a "wh' the f..."

Or, if used with a beautiful old pastel like AC511 Vert Embrun, would a lighter or darker shade of Gris Rose suit best, do you reckon?

(Ohhh-oohhhh - I've just made a sticky mess; http://voitures-anciennes.over-blog.com ... 86515.html  That is ooooooooohhhhhhhhh. And, I guess, a light shade?)

Thanks, all.

AC 140 for wheels, AC 136 for bumpers and headlight lamp support bar frame.

Blimey! I didn't see that coming...

Aw, maaaaan. What a pita. AC136 (bumpers and bars) will be the lighter shade, then?

Sod authenticity - it's '136 all 'round...

Cheers tfaerch. Where did you get that info - is there an 'ultimate' source, or is it just something you knew?

Thanks.

I *think* AC140 is the lighter shade. I just use AC136 all round, or in the past have just had some random light grey mixed up. I think the last paint I used was some old Austin-Rover stuff that I bought cheap. It's not exactly the right colour, but it's near enough.

Common knowlodge (is that the right expression?).
I have been walking around "color nerds" for almost 20 years, and the issue with AC 136 and AC 140 is something we are pretty shure about.
I have heard the name "Gris Roue" for AC 140, but never seen it on print.

;)
