 Headlamp / Horn / Hazard troubles.
There is no power to the light switch, the fuses were all intact but I changed them just in case, the hazards don't work and neither do the brake lights, there doesn't seem to be power to 3 of the 4 fuses on the top box, the only one that does have power is the yellow one with blue sheaths, has any body got any ideas at all?
If I run a live from the battery to the switch the headlamps work.

have you cleaned all the bullet connectors that run along the bulkhead under the bonnet? is your fuel gauge working? the hazards brake lights and fuel gauge all work off the same circuit.

Firstly, how do you keep breaking this without using it?!
This is a bit of a weird one Louis. The fuse with the blue sleeves(third one down?) is the one that goes live with the ignition, so if you've got power there, and the engine runs, which I assume it does as you haven't said otherwise, then there must be power getting to the ignition switch.
Thing is, there is nothing but wire between the ignition switch supply and the lighting switch supply, no fuses, no connectors. The only way you could have power at one and not the other is a broken wire.
The hazards and brake lights run from the same fuse, I think it's the lowest fuse in the upper box, and the right hand(nearside) end of it should be permanently live. The wire suppling that fuse originates at the same junction as the split between the ignition switch and lighting switch.
First thing I'd do tomorrow is double check the symptoms, and if it's definitely as you say then I can only think you may have to start unwrapping the loom. I have a picture showing where. May be a good idea to check the loom for any sign of damage first though.

Yeah I can't think of any other issues other than a fucked wire after looking at wiring diagrams. And I have no idea how its gone wrong, I started it as I do to keep it running, then just fiddled with the switch at frist they worked fine but then I flicked the switch down, and they came on then went out in a very short amount of time, I assumed that the switch had broken, as I had recently had it apart to swap the dash. I had it apart again and the contacts were very worn so I found another swich. This didnt work, so I swapped the fuses, broken or not, I then started to wounder and found that the hazards didnt work neither did the brake lights. The indicators, ignition and wipers all work.

I don't understand how you could have broken a wire, and suggest you keep checking anything else you can think of before unwrapping the loom. But if it comes down to it there is a junction of 4 yellow wires on the bulkhead where the supplies to the lights, ignition, and fusebox separate. fat wire on the right - from starter and alternator, thinner wire on the right - to permanent live fuse, fat wire on the left - to ignition switch, thinner wire on the left - to lighting switch.

Will that be behind the dash, as with a bit of fiddleing it worked momentarily, so I guess it has to be a loose connection.

Will what be behind the dash? At the risk of stating the obvious, there's a picture in my previous post of the wiring loom on the bulkhead, the blue pen is pointing to a crimped connection of 4 wires, whose functions I listed. It still seems very odd to me that you could be having a problem with 2 of these wires, the one to the lighting and the one to the fusebox, while the others are functioning normally.

Yeah its sounds strange to me too, sorry didt see where it was pointing, it's really annoying because there is no obvious problem :/

Why not check the voltage at the switch? Then you'll know if it's not got power.
