Righto, sorry I haven't updated anything in a while. Sodding college and exams getting in the way of my education
The Honda saga seems to be more or less over. Did the CBT a while ago - so much more fun on a 'real' bike. After an epic legal battle with DVLA it's finally registered - A tax disc arrived through the post on Thursday and I've been riding it since. I do love my mobylettes, but this is great fun to ride - even if the left cylinder only seems to work half the time.

Anyway, back to the van. I have barely done anything, had exams all through January, but the last of this lot is Wednesday, so hopefully I can get back to more important matters then. I've now started on the back of the van, Alice came over and lent a hand as well (It's useful having friends who can weld / are handy with a grinder!

) we discovered yet more holes, as expected.

(Couldn't find goggles, mask works fine)

That bit is turning out to be a nightmare to weld in, I don't know if I've just lost the knack of welding, or whether something is up with the welder but I just can't get a consistent arc. I think I'll see if I can get some Argon/C0
2 mix, apparently that's easier for thin metal.

Looks not too awful at first, but when you shine a light behind it all these spots appear;

Got distracted then by a small shrew who seems to have taken up residence in the back of my van, Alice named it 'Prudence'... Doesn't strike me as a particularly prudent place to make your home, but it's a nice name. Very difficult to photography because she moves so fast - I'll try and get a picture of her next time I'm up there
All I did today was make a new section from some scrap sheet to go in behind that repair section, and stick that in, before running out of gas.

Getting there slowly, oh so slowly...

I know it looks horrible now, I'll get a bottle of Argoshield and try again soon - It's dreadful wasting all my time at school when I could be doing this!

Still, once that's done I don't believe there is a great deal other than the wheel arches left to do on the bodyshell. Although they aren't exactly minor parts... We'll see how it goes
By the way - Can anyone think of a source of corrugated metal that's is vaguely similar to that of the floor of the van? There's rather more holes in that than I'd like to repair, if I can find a sheet of something that looks right it would save a lot of time!

Thanks,
George
