Point taken Anna, I promised to write an article each month for Sam to help him out so next time I'll do something less piss up related and more Citroen based.

Like I said, wasn't at dig a you in any way, Russ. Your article was a good read, and will hopefully enlarge the Spa posse next year. The mag reflects the interests of the membership, and 'bin there, dun that' articles are inevitably going to account for a large proportion of material received by the Ed. It is, after all, our newsletter, and used to contain more news about the people as well as the cars. I reckon Sam has got the balance perfect, and a return to the anarchic humour is most welcome!

Looking forward to reading more from you. :D

P.S. Has anyone seen my dog..?

I think Sam's got it just right too, I don't mind admitting that when I wrote the spa thing I wanted to write something that was the antithesis of 'I went to burgundy in polly and nothing interesting happened', not to upset anybody or be provocative but to provide a contrast with what is usually submitted to the magazine. I can't say it'd bother me too much if somebody went mental about it but I'd sooner they responded in a constructive manner. That's what I decided to do when I got fed up of wanky boring holiday reports, I offered to write things that I'd personally like to read. If people decide they've had enough of reading 'I went to Belgium and got as pissed as a newt, puked my ring up then drove home blind drunk with my fingers up a 17 year old tart I picked up' articles then surely they'll respond by writing something they'd like to read next time?

I've been told so many times that 'you can't complain if you're not willing to contribute yourself', I really think more people should contribute to the magazine but in new and different ways. I think the travel report or meeting report thing is a part of it but shouldn't be all of it. Of course, I'm monumentally thick and have virtually no imagination, I can mimic things like a parrot but I can't think of original ideas, which is perhaps my failing for shunning school or being too confident that I knew everything from an early age. I do know, however, that the club has a LOT of very clever, very bright and very imaginative people with excellent humour and wit and who could do just as I've suggested.

What's the worst that could happen if somebody reads something they don't like? They're hardly likely to tell Sam to cancel their membership and remove themselves from 2cvgbs mailing list are they?

No. To my certain knowledge (in the past year), that's only happened when people have objected to the back cover, not the actual content. :?
